Gordon tends to be a real conversation starter. So far,I haven't talked to a soul that I wouldn't describe as anything other than really nice. Of course,we're not talking politics or anything of great import here. But either I'm losing my edge,or there really is something to this southern hospitality thing.
And finally, commenters are encouraged to talk amongst themselves.
Gordon would start a conversation in a Gulag! Don't be fooled by the Southern thing - they seem nice but have they invited you to a Tea Party yet?

Glad to hear that Gordon is doing his part to connect you with the locals. They are locals...aren't they? And if they do ask you to a tea party, just say that you really like English breakfast. They will move away quietly.
ReplyDeleteSuzanne, great to know about the frige. I have been meaning to discuss that with you for some time. By the way, if you have extra time and want another frige challenge...have I got a frige for you!
Mark and Lucy, I am curious about St. Augustine. Detailed report, please.

I just checked the weather in Wellfleet on my computer dashboard. It's 56 degrees and raining. Are you SURE you made the right decision?
ReplyDeleteOMG, I just had one of my Einstein moments!! Middle of the night, I'm laying on my pallet of nails and it hits me like a brick: write Mark and Lucy a song.
ReplyDeleteNot just a song--an Anthem, a Stairway to Heaven commemorating your big trip. You will sing it! your kids will sing it!! Your grandkids will sing it!!!
I'm going to start it off with this mysterious murky intro with screaming Irish tin whistles and then the sound of a whole garage full of pots and pans falling over, then WHAM-O: your ballad!
Here's what I have so far:
Whoa- whoa- whoa- whoa We drove, drove, drove....
Whoa- whoa- whoa- whoa We stopped at Larry's....
Whoa- whoa- whoa- whoa We dro-o-o-o-ve some moe....
Whoa- whoa- whoa- whoa We bought cheap cigarettes....
(chorus)
Cain't be campin, whoa,
Gotta watch chick TV shows!
What rhymes with Larry? Whoa!
Pituitary! Whoa!
That's all I got so far but I really feel the chill of greatness!
Do more awesome stuff and let me know so I can slug it in. I'm writing the bagpipe/glass harmonica bridge--it will blow your face off!

ReplyDeleteSteve you missed your calling as a singer-song- writer! Whoa-whoa-whoa-whoa...sheer genius.
You've got to be the first person to ever rhyme Larry with pituitary.
